WRC 5 — Rally Notes
WRC 5 was my gateway into proper sim-style rally racing. The handling model punishes every small mistake, which made every clean stage feel genuinely earned.
What makes it great
The car physics click once you stop fighting the wheel and start working with it. Weight transfer, surface changes from tarmac to gravel mid-stage, and the sheer variety of real-world rally locations keep it fresh long after the honeymoon period.
The grind
Some of the achievement hunting here is legitimately difficult - finishing seasons without retries, nailing specific stage times under pressure. The 23/37 you see in my library is misleading; the remaining ones require near-perfect runs on championships I haven't had time to grind properly yet.
Worth playing?
If you want entry-level rally without the full sim commitment of DiRT Rally 2.0 or WRC Generations, yes - absolutely.
